Welcome to the Taboo Arts Collective,
a non profit organization focused on fantasy,
underground art and performance!

Who we are

Taboo Arts Collective is a non profit group of open minded men and women who are interested in fantasy, underground arts and performance. We focus on art, performance, dress and fashion that is commonly regarded as 'taboo' in conventional society. Our aim is to explore alternative, creative and extreme expression through fantasy with an alternative arts theme in order to develop the human spirit while expanding our borders of thinking, feeling and sensuality.

We produce quality events and shows in major downtown venues that are safe spaces for alternative personal, artistic and fashion expression. We are modeled along similar groups that exist in large major cities in North America, Europe and Asia. We produce a number of events including Spice Lounge, and the AMOUR! Fantasy party.

Who are we? Well, we come from all walks of life, entrepreneurs, students, artists, performers, bankers, teachers...basically, we are the same people you meet in daily life each day.

The group was originally started in 2013 by open minded people living in Austin Texas. It is currently based in Northern California (Sacramento / North Bay).

What we do

Our purpose is to provide a safe environment where open minded people can meet and discover about each other. TAC does this by running events and parties on a regular calendar basis as well as a smaller monthly lounge gathering (SPICE!) where first timers can meet members of TAC and make new friends.

We welcome all adults, anyone who is curious about alternative arts. We accept people from many gender and sexual orientations and from all walks of life. Artists, professionals and all others are welcome, provided you have an open mind, tolerance of others, and respect of the human spirit.

Events

We produce AMOUR! fantasy party, that is held on a regular schedule in a downtown central nightclub. You can find out more about these events here on the TAC website. (note: these events have a dresscode that is strictly enforced - however if you make an effort, there will be no problem to get in) We also run an array of other events and smaller home parties.

What are the big events like? Just you will have to dress up and come to one to see!
Firstly, TAC is *not* a swing club, and TAC parties are *not* sex/swing parties. There are other venues for that in the city, but ours is not one of them. Rather, TAC events are a completely safe "fantasy space" with all guests are in fantasy and artistic leading edge underground fashion. To maintain privacy of guests (not everyone wants to be on Facebook) photography is forbidden in open event spaces. There are art and performance shows at the event and the club is decorated as a fantasy space, with DJs, video-DJ, as well as shops where you can buy fantasy clothes/costumes. Once you come to one...you will likely be hooked and keep on coming!

Although TAC is not for profit, there may be a charge involved (usually to pay the cost for space, or performances..etc) for a particular event, depending on the arrangements we were able to make for the space we will be using. We try to keep this at a minimum and all money collected is used entirely for the event and regular club expenses only.

How to find us

Although you can either attend one of our open parties such as "AMOUR!", it will be easier to meet people involved with TAC on a more casual and relaxed level at our monthly SPICE! Lounge event. This is a social drinking and chat lounge time to get a chance to meet members of TAC on a more social level. There is no dress code, and anyone can come. Details on the next SPICE! are on the mainpage calendar.

Rules

To make a safe environment for everyone, discretion at TAC events is expected at all times. This means you should not discuss outside TAC events, who you might have met inside..etc.  "i.e. what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...".  As well, any form of video or photography (including cellphone cameras) is strictly prohibited at any TAC event. There are no exceptions, and there are no "staff cameramen" wandering around the floor. No photos, period. Pictures can be taken outside of the club, or depending on the event, sometimes in a clearly marked designated photo-corner area which is separated away from the main event space.

Finally, TAC trained staff (male and female) are always on hand at all events and are wearing clearly visible orange TAC staff tags. Anyone found harassing or acting in a non respectful manner to any other guests at TAC events will be ejected from the event.

First Time?

Maybe you are not sure what to expect if you attend one of our events.
TAC events are 'safe spaces'. Plenty of staff are always around to ensure that the event/party progresses safely and to the enjoyment of everyone with exciting shows and other entertainment.

Always keep an open mind, and remember that you are not expected to do anything or hang out with anyone that you are not comfortable with while you are at our events. If you see anything that may seem inappropriate or unsafe, just notify the nearest TAC staff member (the ones with the Orange Badges, and we will take care of it immediately).

If you are uncertain or have questions about TAC, it would be best to come to our TAC SPICE! Lounge event above. It is a social only casual cocktail event, it has no dresscode, and people there will be happy to explain to you everything about TAC before you attend any parties.
