Party
Dresscode
Guide

All TAC events (except Spice! Lounge) have a strict dresscode and are leading edge stylish cosmopolitan nightclub events like those held in London, Tokyo, Las Vegas or New York. The dresscode is strictly enforced in order to maintain a safe, and exciting fantasy space for all of our guests. The concept of such events, is that to see the other art and fantasy around you, you have to wear some yourself. And since everyone is dressed alternatively, you do not need to be embarrassed about what you are wearing either.

As a basic guide of what meets dresscode at dresscoded events, if a regular person would be comfortable wearing it to a 'normal' nightclub or restaurant, then you probably cannot wear it at our events. For examples of appropriate clothing, please look at the images below, or on the photo gallery of this website for photos of guests taken in the separate photo studio space (photos are not allowed in the party space) at our previous dresscode events.

I
f you do not meet the dresscode, you will not be able to enter the event. At each party, several people unfortunately arrive without proper clothes and then cannot enter. This is very regrettable, and the door staff cannot change policy when it happens!

At the same time do not worry, if you make just a reasonable effort, you will get in! And everyone else there will be dressed too, so you do not need to be embarrassed.

Basically, if it is artistic, fantasy, alternative, goth, burner or underground, you will have no problem getting in!

Why is there a strict dresscode only policy for Taboo Arts Collective events? Why won't 'all black casual' (black t-shirt & dresspants) or 'suit' or 'tuxedo'  pass dresscode?

The dresscode rule is in common with other world class fetish parties in other countries. The reasons for it are:

1) This is essentially an alternative expression / art party with a fantasy theme. In order to see the art around you, we want you to show some yourself in the way of what you wear. We see vanilla streetwear everywhere around us. To see vanilla, one can just go take a walk around the mall. One of the concepts of this event is to make a fantasy space where you do not see what you see just walking around at the mall or downtown.

2) If some people are dressed in fantasy, but others are not, it makes a bit of a 'look at the pandas and freaks at the zoo' effect. With the fantasy dresscode applied to everyone equally at the entrance, it protects and gives a safe space for people to be as expressive as they want as others around you will all be that way too. This is also why cameras and cellphones are not allowed to be out and wandering the floors putting things on Facebook either.

3) In our experience of running this event for 15 years, we found that running a strict dresscode keeps problem-people out of the event and makes for a very smooth evening inside with a very safe space for people to dress as expressively as they like with everyone respecting each other.

Where can I get appropriate fashion?
There is a "shops" link on this website listing many local area stores as well as webshops. Check them out, there is lots to choose from, or make something yourself with leather, metal..body paint...etc!. Note, for men, local shopping can harder than it is for women, so you will likely need to either make something creative, or order something online early to get it in time for the event!
