Special Halloween SPICE!

The Oct 8 (Thursday) 2015 SPICE is our annual special Halloween edition! We will bring back the Dance Pole, Shibari Rope Bondage Suspension Cage and the St. Andrew's Cross for a fun filled Halloween celebration! Staff will be dressed up in halloween best, with great pole dance and Shibari and fun on the Cross!

Dress up in your halloween or fetish best and come join us at Legends from 8pm on October 8 for this very special edition of SPICE! during the best month of the year!

Thank you to the over 130 people who came to AMOUR! on July 24, 2015!

 Thank you to everyone who came to the 2nd AMOUR! in Raleigh, NC on July 24, 2015. A big thank you to the great DJs Stricken, Seraphim, Neuron Husky and Dale for terrific dance and industrial music all night long! Thank you as well to the performers Claudia (loved the bubbles!), Emma (a tough and enchanting sexy pole dance show!), Lux & Aaron for the turnaround-SM show and to Johanna for that beautiful aerial piece that took us to Paris at the turn of the century! Finally a huge thank you to all the staff, volunteers, shopkeepers and all the guests who made the event such a success!

Next up is SPICE! Lounge on Aug 13th from 8PM at Legends (Raleigh) where there will be great industrial music, pole dance and Shibari in a nice environment that you can talk and meet new people!

Thank you to the over 70 people who came to the monthly SPICE! Lounge opening party @ Legends Nightclub!

 Thank you to everyone who came to the opening SPICE! lounge at Legends on May 14th, 2015! It was a great night of Shibari, suspension, poledancing and lounge time to great music by DJ Seraphin System! It was a night full of excitement (and thank you Silent Storm for the lovely impromptu self-suspension act!) and fun by all. We look forward to see all of you at the next SPICE! on Thursday June 11, 2015 @ Legends at 8pm - 11pm.

Note there will be a door password from now on to keep random people from wandering off the street into the event. The password is "FETISH". Say it and you will get in free!

 Thank you to the over 150 people who attended the opening AMOUR! fetish party at the lovely Above-and Beyond Ultraclub in downtown Raleigh! Thank you as well to the great DJs DJ Seraphim System and DJ Stricken for the great music all night!

Thank you as well to all the performers including Jezebelle Bordeaux and Lux Valentina (Succubus Sorority - golf with clothespins...that must have hurt!),  Hellkatz  (from Austin, TX) Kari  (Bind-Torture-Kill Gore Girl!) and Ashley (scary sparks, chains, bondage, fire, blood and skulls!),  Emily Granito (Madhouse Underground) for a lovely acrobatic dance followed by a fun spanking show, and Mistress Kuromi for a very unique SM, Shibari and Pole show! The shops were also great with many unique artism and fetishy fashions - Cats Eye Design! - corsets, ladies sexy electro-fashion and The Leatherworks! - with very cool leather fashion and goods!

Finally, a great thank you to all the volunteers and staff who helped set up and run the event, as well as the great people over at PUSH! Durham for letting us publicize our opening party at their terrific PUSH! party over in Durham!

Monthly Fetish lounge party - 'SPICE' - opening party!
Taboo Arts Collective is proud to kick off a new monthly fetish lounge party event! SPICE LOUNGE opens on May 14th (Thursday) 8pm - 11pm at Legends Nightclub in downtown Raleigh! More details about SPICE LOUNGE are here.

If you are interested in the underground art and performance world, SPICE LOUNGE is a great space to start. Although you can either attend one of our large dresscode parties such as "AMOUR!",  it will be easier to meet people involved with Taboo Arts Collective on a more casual and relaxed level at our 'Spice' Lounge event. This is a social drinking and chat lounge time that allows you to get a chance to meet members of TAC on a more social level. There is no dresscode, and anyone can come!

The name "Spice" represents the concept of an alternative, relaxed, no-dresscode casual DJ lounge event where open minded people can assemble, meet and chat with others about alternative lifestyles while making new friends.

Our in-house Spice Lounge DJs are there monthly serving up a pleasant mix of relaxing and underground lounge and dance music throughout the evening. Members of TAC are also on hand to welcome new visitors and talk about our group as well as about the Triangle alternative world. They are also there to make a nice atmosphere for people interested in underground art, fetish, SM, fantasy and alternative underground scene and who wish to meet others who are similarly open minded. 

Spice Lounge happens on a regular monthly basis (check the calendar at the top of the main page for scheduling and location). Please see the Taboo Arts Collective website Calandar for the location and time before attending as it does sometimes change.

In addition to the great music, TAC performers will be performing on a dance pole as well as a Shibari (Japanese rope bondage) suspension cage set up in the space! (note, the suspension cage is for TAC demos only and not for suspensions done by the public). Photo's from the Tokyo sister event are here and here!
          

Spice Lounge is *not* a hostess bar type event and you will *not* be ripped off at this, or any TAC events. Spice Lounge is held in casual evening bar spaces in Downtown clubs that are kink friendly. Owners of these clubs have very kindly allowed us to use their spaces for our Spice casual drink & chat events.

Spice Lounge is currently held at Legends Nightclub, an LBGT club that is fetish, underground art and performance friendly and has welcomed us to have a private space to hold Spice Lounge each month! TAC thanks the staff of Legends for kindly hosting our event!

Drinks start from $4. Entrance is free. There are no other charges. Parking is free at the club and in most surrounding streets.

Free and Easy Parking Guide!:

  • Finding free parking near Above and Beyond is very easy If you arrive around 9pm when the party opens! Good places to park that are easy to walk from are:
  • Most areas of NCSU campus across the street from the club. Parking is free in regular spaces on campus lots / the NCSU streets after 5pm! (just check the signs, you do not need any permit or pass!)
  • Hillsborough street as well as the little residential streets behind the club, there are many! (free parking without needing any permit after 7pm (just check the signs!)).



About "Memberships to nightclubs" and the State of North Carolina

All licensed nightclubs in the State of North Carolina which serve alcohol must require patrons to be "members" of said club (even if they are not drinking or not of age to drink alcohol). Above and Beyond is required to follow this mandatory "blue law".

Getting a "Membership" to Above and Beyond to follow this state law and attend AMOUR! is no problem though, you may purchase it instantly for $1 at the door when you arrive at the event. The "membership fee" will then be discounted from the entrance price of the event (so "membership" in effect doesn't cost anything). You can then enter the club immediately.

Thank you for your understanding regarding this procedure, and for helping us ensure that Above and Beyond stays fully compliant with North Carolina state laws so that events like this can continue to be held in the future!

As well, like when entering any other club that serves alcohol in North Carolina, please remember to bring valid photo id so the club can verify your proof of age at entrance.

Taboo Arts Collective /AMOUR! moving to Raleigh-Durham North Carolina

Dear all friends in Austin,

I and the others had a lovely time while being in Austin Texas during the end of 2013 / start of 2014! We had a blast with everyone in town, attending great events as well as producing 2 highly successful editions of the AMOUR! fetish party in Downtown Austin!

Daily work life however has brought me to Raleigh North Carolina. As a result I have moved to Raleigh and will be working here, at least for the time being. I will return to Austin though to visit (when it gets a little cooler this year!), as I wish to see all of you again soon, and it is such a terrific place to party with everyone! AMOUR! fetish party will continue (though you will have to come to Raleigh to experience it). If my next project brings me back to Austin, the event will return as well to Austin.

Stay in touch and thank you to all the performers, staff, DJs who made the Austin edition of this event (2 great parties in 2013/2014) so special!

Thank you again and I look forward to see you all soon, and do a future event in Austin again as soon as possible!

She is a performer with Frisky Business Burlesque, Cosplay Deviant model, and the Founder and Co-producer of Feather Fan Fiction: Cosplay Burlesque. With a true love for her craft- this little witch will put a spell on you!





A born and raised Texan, Amanda Grant is a not only a pole dance performer she is an instructor in pole dance fitness at Brass Ovaries, Austin's leading pole dance studio! She has appeared as a performer in the Capitol of Texas Pole Championships as well as other major pole dance shows and events in the region! At AMOUR! she will bring a very sexy and sultry pole dance show fitting to the theme of the evening!



Charm debuts with his first formal Japanese shibari style show in America on this night! Charm, Tsunami and Nikki star in this Japanese style rope bondage show that takes many interesting twists and turns!


 


There is a secret innovative fixed art performance in the works for this AMOUR involving Japanese tea, a beautifully sexy lady and a very large teacup! It will be announced the night of the performance and will be held in the new 'Lounge Room' at AMOUR!

Easy and Free Parking Guide!! :
If you drive to AMOUR and arrive around 9pm when the party opens, parking downtown is very easy to find (and free!)

Free Parking!!: (accurate as of 4/9/2014)
Get off I-35 at 12th street and turn onto 12th street heading to the west side.
Pass Red River Street
All the spaces on the right side of 12th street heading up the little hill are free.
There are lots and lots of free spaces.
If you still cannot find any free spaces, just go around the block to Red River as there are more there.
(to do this: turn right from 12th onto Trinity Street,  then right again onto 15th street, then right again onto Red River).
On the right side of the street along Red River street as you head south towards 6th street, all parking is free for several blocks.

Pay (cheap city metered) Parking: (accurate as of 3/23/2014)
From Lamar, head east on 10th street until Guadalupe.
 There is lots of metered parking on the right side of 10th street up until Guadalupe.
If you arrive just after 9pm, you can park for the max 3 hours paid, but then can leave the car there after midnight for free (just pay until midnight) until the next day since meters stop running at midnight!

Thank you everyone who came to the very successful AMOUR (Americas) opening party last night in Austin!


Thank you everyone who came to Amour last night! It was very successful event and a fitting opener! (we even exceeded the attendance we got in Tokyo (a city fifty times bigger!) 10 years ago, the first time this event first opened there, which surprised me! (and sorry to the few frat boys and vanilla girls who did not get in for wearing streetwear and failing the entrance code).

People who attended were really super nice and lots of people danced (many liked the few selections of 80s music that were played, so we'll have a bit more next time! (though I liked the industrial too!). The venue worked out very well! - thank you John and Matt and other excellent staff at Silhouette-Loft 718!

Everyone was wearing fetish and really looked hot, it looked straight out of 'The Matrix' or "Tron" and a really future fantasy space. There were lots of stylish guys and hot women!

Thank you to Michelle Manx (the 'pin up' belly / burlesque dancer) for a very cool and unique show! What a talented dancer you are! Thank you as well to Lily for the Arial Silk and the dancing with the boa at the end your show! And Knot Knormal / Allie.. that was terrific! (especially the upside-down suspension show at the end!). Kari and Morgana Fate's (Hellkatz) last show was great (a human sized spider web! Wow!) Morgana's impromptu Flamenco session with song 'Burlesque' was also cool!

Thank you to everyone who attended! Thank you especially to the volunteer staff of Taboo Arts Collective and all the performers who successfully brought urban fetish, kinky fashion and cosmopolitan underground to this great city last night!

Amour will run about 3 or 4 times a year from now on, the next one will be in end Feb / Mid march sometime and will be announced here as well as http://www.tabooarts.org

In summer of 2013, the founder and producer of this group decided to spend some time in Austin to bring the concept of cosmopolitan underground arts, fetish, fantasy fashion and avant-guard kink performance events to this great city!

There will be underground performance shows, shops, DJs and art adding to the event, making it a night to remember!

Michelle\92s love for dance started at the age of six when she began participation in ballet and tap classes. Michelle has studied the art of bellydance since early 2002, including Suhaila Salimpour technique. She has also supplemented her knowledge of dance and movement by taking Bharata Natyam and classic burlesque.

She developed her signature style of incorporating the sense of style, poses, and facial expressions of the pin-up girls of the 40\92s and 50\92s into her dancing. She has modeled for some of her favorite designers, such as Poison Candy Fashion and Geisha Moth. In 2010, one of her photos was included in Gayla Partridge\92s photography book: "666 Photography: Of Virgin Queens and High Camp Divas."


 


Lily Liddell is a siren born of the 1940's fantasy of Pinup Girls and Femme Fatales. The beautiful and very stylish Liddell will charm you with her sultry classic burlesque as well as her gorgeous aerial performance!



"KnotKnormal's rope journey started around 5th grade with the twin gals next door.  With a modern discovery of Japanese "Shibari" bondage and suspension rope art, a love for rope was rekindled.  He has tied at San Antonio's Temple of Flesh, Exotic Easter, as well as events in Austin and Houston.". Allie-Cat is new to the Nawa scene and joins Knot Knormal as his lovely model for this evening's performance!



One of Austin's most finely tuned alternative dance troupes. Founded by former Suicide Girl and professional badass Rachael Reckless in mid 2010, these women are highly versatile in a plethora of different performance arts including pole performing, aerial arts, metal grinding, fire tools, burlesque and more!

Spice Lounge opens from Feb 2014. SILHOUETTE - LOFT 718 is an intimate club in the heart of downtown Austin!


We look forward to seeing you at TAC's Spice Lounge!

The name "Spice" represents the concept of a relaxed, no-dresscode casual DJ lounge event where open minded people can assemble, meet and discuss with others about alternative lifestyles while making new friends.

Our in-house DJs serve up a pleasant mix of relaxing and underground lounge music throughout the evening.

Members of TAC are also on hand to welcome new visitors and talk about our group as well as about the Austin alternative world. They are there to make a nice atmosphere for people interested in underground art, fantasy, cosplay and alternative underground scene and who wish to meet others who are similarly open minded.

Spice is a casual lounge event with no dresscode. Feel free to join us - all are welcome!
